Mr. S. M. Suhail F.C.A.

Senior Partner – Head of Services

Mr. S. M. Suhail holds a qualified Chartered Accountant certificate from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan since early 1990s, which he has received after completing his diversified training and experiences in audit & assurance, taxation and business consultancy, from big renowned CA Firms including Rahim Jan & Co., M/s K.P.M.G.- Taseer Hadi Khalid & Co. M/s. Ernst & Young Ford Rhodes Sidat Hyder & Co, Chartered Accountants.

He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Pakistan, as well a Fellow Member of Public Accountant. He joined SMSCO in late 1990s and has fully dedicated his time and efforts to SMSCO since then.

As a managing partner and head of services, he is responsible for controlling and running the Firm. During his inspiring carrier in practice he has conducted audits of medium and large sized, national and multinational companies, banks; non-banking financial institutions, listed, non-listed companies and various other organizations. In addition to audits, he has been responsible for undertaking other assurance services and consultancy assignments both in the industrial and service sectors and has been involved for over 30 years in the fields of audit, taxation and business advisory services.

Mr. Shibli Islam Rehan

Partner – Advisory Services

Mr. Shibli Islam Rehan is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) possessing over 28 years of post-qualification experience, both in the industry and profession. He has been engaged as Partner – Audit and Assurance of ERNST & YOUNG Ford Rhodes Sidat Hyder & Co. (EY Pakistan, Islamabad office). He was also involved in providing Corporate and Business Advisory services. Major sectors practiced as engagement partner included oil and gas E & P companies, telecom sector entities, financial sector institutions and non-governmental organizations.

Mr. Rehan’s main areas of expertise are the conventional practice segments including statutory audits and assurance engagements, agreed upon procedures and special purpose certifications and reporting on behalf of group auditors.

Under Business Advisory services, he possesses experience of providing advices and opinions on statutory provisions; dealing with regulatory authorities, viz., Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Board of Investment (BOI), State Bank of Pakistan (SBP); rendering corporate/secretarial and tax compliance services and representation at statutory/appellate forums.

Other professional services include performing outsourced services; carrying out business and system reviews and controls evaluations; performing internal audits an  enterprise risk management assessments; systems and software implementation support and assistance

He also worked as Senior Consultant of ICAP for conducting Quality Control Reviews (QCR) of firms on country wide basis and providing on the job training to ICAPs QCR staff. Also provided assistance and services to ICAP in launching the ISQC1 implementation by conducting orientation seminars and mentoring sessions at SMPs.

Engaged as one of the key team members and Subject Matter Specialist in executing Auditor General Pakistan Revenue (AGPR) Office’s Contract whereby he was appointed as Consultant for the evaluation/selection and procurement of Audit Management Information System.

Participated as one of the senior team members in delivering Enterprise Risk Management Framework for Al Rajhi Takaful, Riyadh, KSA, responsible for the accounting and financial management and reporting functions.

He has served as member of Accounting and Auditing Standards Committee of ICAP also served as member of the Central Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Committee for several years, currently member of Islamabad CPD Committee. Currently he is a member of Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) of ICAP

Mr. Ahmad Usman Shabbir

Partner - Audit, Assurance and Advisory Services

He is a Fellow member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and acting as management consultant for financial management, corporate consultancy, audit and assurance, income and sales tax services.
 
He has been engaged in audits of many institutions including companies in service as well as energy, textile, foods, media and oil and gas sectors. He is also engaged as consultant in implementation of software for Entrepreneurs Resource Planning. He is also actively engaged in providing taxation services.

Syed Zakir Ali

Partner Corporate Services

He is Fellow of Chartered Accountant and an experienced professional, with a vast local and foreign experience of over 22 years in different industries such as manufacturing, services and banking sectors. He also had the privilege of working in Canada as a consultant and a tax adviser provided to various clients in Canada. He carries vast Knowledge of online operations and multidimensional skills of professional services. During his term of services, he has been involved in various assignments related to audit, consultancy, financial advisory, corporate affairs and taxation.

Muhammad Sajid

Partner Taxation Services

He is also a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan. He has remarkable experience in the Income Tax laws of Pakistan, including General Sales Tax, and Provincial Sales Tax on Services. He has good command on accountancy and reporting as per International Financial Reporting Standards the IFRS. He performed various statutory audits, special audits, and did an advisory role in this tenure of the last 8 years for different clients. He also possesses unmatched three years of post-qualification industry experience in various managerial capacities.

Mufti Ehsan Waqar

Shariah Advisory Services

Mufti Ehsan is among the few scholars who possess a unique combination of religious and contemporary education. He has strong communication skills with fluency in several languages. He graduated as a Mufti, achieving Masters in Traditional Islamic Studies. Later he accomplished Masters in Economics and Masters in Business Administration with majors in Finance. Currently he is pursuing Bachelors in Law. This unique blend of educational combination gives him an edge upon many others to understand, correlate and align modern day banking practices with Shariah principles.

He has served Islamic Financial Industry with institutions like Emirates Global Islamic Bank now Albaraka Bank Pakistan, UBL and Yasaar Ltd, where he worked on developing and advising Liability, Asset, Trade Finance and Treasury Products. He has also advised and developed Sukuk structures in Pakistan. He has been involved in advising and research with the Islamic financial industry globally. Currently he is advisin member of the Technical Committee for Developing Accounting & Auditing Standard for Islamic Financial Institution at Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and member Islamic Capital Market Development Committee at KSE. To date the committee has developed accounting standards on Murabaha, Ijarah and Profit and Loss sharing on Deposits. Currently he has been nominated as a sub-committee member for developing Reporting Framework for Presentation of Financial Statements for Islamic Financial Institutions.

As member of Shariah Advisers Forum at State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) he also work actively with SBP and has been nominated to several sub-committees formed by the SBP Shariah Board for Islamic Banking matters in Pakistan, including committee for Shariah Standard on Shairkat-ul-Milk, Tawarruq, Commodity Murabaha, Treasury, Trade Finance and Agricultural Financing Products.

Mufti Ehsan conducts courses of Classical Jurisprudence, Islamic Finance and Risk Management at Traditional Islamic Universities and Modern Business Schools. He frequently contributes in different international and local periodicals and conducts programs on local TV channels.

Mufti Zeeshan Abdul Aziz

He is a qualified Mufti by achieving a Takhassus Fil Ifta from Jamia Dar-ul-uloom,Karachi, with specialization in Islamic Jurisprudence/ Islamic Finance/ Halal Food Ingredients under Justice (R) Mufti Mohd Taqi Usmani. He has completed Shadat-ul- Aalmia Certificate in Arabic and Islamic Studies from the same Jamia.
